Who should attend?
Open to young dispute resolution practitioners aged 40 and under, ICC YAAF provides a range of opportunities for individuals to gain knowledge, develop skills, build networks and garner a better understanding of ICC’s Dispute Resolution Services.
What is ICC YAAF?
At ICC, we believe that through training and mentorship, we can shape the next generation of leading international arbitration and ADR experts. Through the ICC Young Arbitration and ADR Forum (YAAF) network, we are able to better inform, connect and inspire young professionals with interests in dispute resolution and dispute avoidance.
Throughout the world, ICC YAAF organises a number of educational and social events that allow young professionals to discover best practices, discuss topical issues, network and create meaningful connections with experienced practitioners.

Debating the Future: Two Oxford-Style Debates on International Arbitration
This panel will feature two Oxford-style debates on pressing issues in international arbitration. This event will bring together experts from around the world to argue both sides of the motion, providing a dynamic and thought-provoking experience.
- Round I: Terms of Reference R.I.P.: A Procedural Farewell or a Practical Evolution? Under the 2026 ICC Rules, Terms of Reference cease to be a mandatory step for the first time in the institution’s history, with the initial case management conference under Article 24 now serving as the key early procedural milestone and, under Article 25, as the new cut-off for the introduction of claims without tribunal authorization. The panel should debate whether this represents a genuine modernization of ICC practice or the potential loss of a valuable case-management tool.
- Round II: Talk it out or build it up? ADR in action
As multi-tiered dispute resolution clauses become standard in energy and infrastructure contracts, mediation, conciliation, and dispute boards are increasingly positioned as genuine alternatives — or necessary precursors — to arbitration rather than mere procedural formalities. The panel should debate their comparative value.
