Patents as Engines of Growth

Patents as Engines of Growth

ICC United Kingdom, in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys and the IP Federation, has launched Patents as Engines of Growth: Unlocking Innovation for Businesses of All Sizes.

The report shows how patents are vital strategic assets for start-ups, SMEs, and scale-ups, not just large corporations. By protecting innovation, patents attract investment, enable collaboration, create new revenue streams, and strengthen competitiveness in global markets.

A case study featuring Farmer Lifeline Technologies, a Kenyan agri-tech start-up recognised with a WIPO Global Award and shortlisted for the prestigious Earthshot Prize, illustrates how patent protection can transform an idea into a scalable global solution for food security.

The report calls on innovators and policymakers alike to recognise intellectual property as essential to sustainable growth, investment, and job creation.
